At Amoro, your privacy is not an afterthought — it's built into every feature we design. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and what choices you have. It applies to all users of the Amoro mobile application, website, and related services. We are committed to complying with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDPA) (India), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (for EEA users), and other applicable privacy laws.

- IP address and approximate geolocation (city/district level).
- App usage data: features accessed, connection interactions, session duration.
- Crash logs and performance diagnostics.
- Push notification token (for connection and message alerts).
C. Information From Third Parties
- If you sign in via Google or Apple, we receive your public profile name and email address from that provider.

🔒 What We Never Collect: We never collect your financial account numbers, passwords, or precise real-time GPS coordinates. Location is only used for city/neighbourhood-level matching.
How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data for the following purposes:
- Account creation and authentication — to register and verify your identity.
- Matching algorithm — to suggest compatible profiles based on language, location, interests, and relationship goals.
- Messaging — to deliver messages between connected users via end-to-end encrypted channels.
- Safety and moderation — AI scanning of messages and profile content to detect harassment, explicit material, and fraudulent behaviour.
- Subscription management — to process payments, manage plan access, and send billing notifications.
- Customer support — to respond to your queries, reports, and complaints.
- Platform improvement — anonymised and aggregated analytics to improve features and user experience.
- Legal compliance — to comply with applicable laws, court orders, and government requests.
We do not use your data to serve third-party advertisements within the Amoro app. We are an ad-free platform.
Legal Basis for Processing
For users in the EEA (GDPR) and India (DPDPA), we process your data based on the following legal grounds:
- Contract performance — processing necessary to provide the Services you've signed up for (matching, messaging, subscriptions).
- Legitimate interests — safety moderation, fraud prevention, and platform analytics, balanced against your rights.
- Consent — for optional features like marketing emails or geolocation-based features; you can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation — where we are required to retain or disclose data under Indian law or other applicable regulations.
Data Sharing
Amoro does not sell your personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- With other users — your public profile (photos, name, bio, language, city) is visible to other verified users on the platform.
- Service providers — trusted third parties who assist us in operating the platform (cloud hosting, payment processing, ID verification, analytics), bound by strict data processing agreements.
- Law enforcement — when required by valid legal process, court order, or to protect safety in an emergency situation.
- Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the successor entity, subject to the same privacy protections.
💌 Your Messages Stay Private: Messages are end-to-end encrypted. Our AI moderation operates on metadata signals and flagged reports — not by reading your message content in plaintext.
Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide Services. Specifically:
- Active accounts — profile and usage data retained throughout the active period.
- Deleted accounts — personal data is erased within 30 days of account deletion, except data required by law.
- Transaction records — retained for 7 years as required under Indian financial regulations (Companies Act 2013, Income Tax Act 1961).
- Safety reports and bans — retained for up to 5 years to prevent re-registration of banned users.
- Backups — encrypted backups may contain your data for up to 90 days after deletion before permanent purge.
Security Measures
We implement robust, industry-leading security measures to protect your data:
- End-to-End Encryption (E2EE): All messages use E2EE so only you and your connection can read them.
- AES-256 Encryption: All data at rest is encrypted using AES-256 on our servers.
- TLS 1.3: All data in transit is encrypted using TLS 1.3 to prevent interception.
- Access Controls: Strict role-based access controls ensure Amoro employees can only access data necessary for their job.
- Regular Audits: We conduct annual third-party security audits and penetration tests.
- Incident Response: In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users and the Data Protection Board of India within 72 hours.
