Stay Smart on Your Profile

Protecting your personal information is the first step to safe dating. Follow these tips before you even start swiping.

01

Guard Your Personal Details

Never share your home address, workplace, phone number, or financial details with someone you've just matched with. Take your time building trust before sharing anything personal.

02

Use Amoro Chat — Not WhatsApp

Keep all conversations within the Amoro app until you genuinely trust the person. Moving off-platform too early removes the protections we have in place for you.

03

Choose Profile Photos Carefully

Avoid profile photos that include your home, car number plate, workplace signage, or exact neighbourhood. Use photos where the background gives nothing sensitive away.

04

Keep Social Media Private

Don't share your Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn handle with new matches immediately. Revealing your full social footprint early can expose far more than you intend.

05

Trust Your Instincts

If something feels off — the conversation seems scripted, the photos look too perfect, or they avoid video calls — trust that feeling and report the profile.

06

Never Send Money

Romance scammers build emotional connections before asking for money in an "emergency." No matter how convincing the story, never send money to someone you haven't met in person.

Know the Warning Signs

These patterns are commonly used by scammers and bad actors. If you notice any of these, block and report immediately.

They refuse video calls

Always has an excuse — bad connection, broken camera, "shy". This is a strong indicator the profile photos are fake.

They fall in love instantly

Overwhelming affection within days — "I've never felt this way before." This love-bombing is a classic manipulation tactic.

Their story doesn't add up

Claims to be a doctor abroad, a soldier, or an engineer on an oil rig. Details change over time or contradict earlier messages.

They push to move off-platform

Immediately asks for your phone number or WhatsApp. They want to get you away from Amoro's safety features.

They ask for financial help

Any request for money, gift cards, or crypto is a scam — regardless of how heartbreaking or urgent their story sounds.

They send unsolicited explicit content

Sending sexual images without consent is harassment. Block, report, and do not engage. Amoro takes this very seriously.

They pressure you to meet urgently

Rushing to meet in a private location without getting to know you properly is a significant safety concern.

They ask for personal documents

No legitimate match will ever ask for your Aadhaar, PAN card, passport, or bank details. This is identity fraud.

First Date Safety

Meeting in Person — Do It Right

When you're ready to take things offline, a little preparation goes a long way in keeping you safe and confident.

1

Video call first — every time

Before any in-person meeting, have at least one live video call. Use Amoro's built-in Video Date feature. This confirms the person looks like their photos and is who they say they are.

2

Always choose a public place

For the first few dates, only meet in busy, well-lit public spaces — a café, restaurant, mall, or park. Never agree to meet at their home, your home, or a secluded location.

3

Tell a trusted person your plans

Share the date's name, Amoro profile, location, and expected return time with a friend or family member. Set up a check-in call halfway through the date.

4

Arrange your own transport

Drive yourself, use a cab, or take public transport. Do not rely on your date for a ride — this keeps you in control of when you arrive and leave.

5

Stay sober and stay alert

Limit alcohol consumption and never leave your drink unattended. Stay aware of your surroundings and trust your gut if anything makes you uncomfortable — you can always leave.
